1990s Dot-Com Launch Party
Bandwidth & Backstabs
Plot:
It is 1999, and Bandwidth.com is moments away from the IPO launch party that could turn its ambitious team into overnight dot-com millionaires. The office is buzzing with investors, staff, press attention, glowing CRT monitors, faxed memos, and promises that the company’s future has never looked brighter.
Then the launch goes wrong.
Instead of the product reveal, the main screen flashes a corrupted file. The clean build is missing, the servers are in chaos, and panic spreads through the room. Before anyone can recover the night, Victor, the company’s dealmaker and investor liaison, is found dead near the server room.
Now every guest has a secret. Some were hiding fake user growth. Some were protecting money, code, contracts, or careers. And someone in the room killed to keep the truth from going public.
Players must question suspects, follow the evidence, trade secrets, and uncover who turned Bandwidth.com’s biggest night into murder.

Reviews from Real Detectives
"The Greed & Gouda kit turned our ordinary Saturday dinner into a full-blown Wall Street whodunit. The host script was fool-proof — even for first-timers. Our guests are already begging for the next game night!"
"I needed a fresh idea for our remote team social. The mystery kept 24 coworkers laughing and collaborating for two solid hours. HR is making this a standing tradition."
"We ran the mystery for my daughter's birthday on Zoom. The story was clean, the clues were challenging, and setup took less than an hour. Parents messaged me asking where to buy their own kit."
"I've purchased mystery kits from three other sites. None matched the polish of Capital of Mystery. Instant downloads, gorgeous PDFs, and clear Host vs. Player sections — zero spoilers. Five stars."
"We hosted the 1920s Speakeasy game for a birthday dinner and everyone stayed in character longer than expected. The evidence cards made the night feel organized but still gave everyone room to improvise."
"The game worked perfectly for our group of 18. I loved that the instructions were clear, the roles felt balanced, and even quieter guests had useful secrets and clues to share."
"I was nervous about hosting for the first time, but the host guide made it easy. We printed everything the same afternoon and played that night. The final reveal got a huge reaction."
