Midnight Masquerade
New Year’s Eve
Plot:
New Year’s Eve, 1929. Inside the glittering Aurelian Ballroom of the Meridian Grand Hotel, Northbridge’s most influential patrons, performers, reporters, and hotel staff gather for a masked charity gala. As the orchestra plays and the illuminated clock counts down to midnight, the Bellweather Relief Foundation hopes to secure enough donations to keep its winter kitchens and clinics open.
But celebrated philanthropist Vivienne St. Clair has arrived with troubling questions. Several valuable pledges may not be genuine, a crucial bank loan hangs in the balance, and Vivienne intends to uncover the truth before the old year ends.
At 11:57 p.m., the ballroom enters a planned seventeen-second blackout. A radio appeal fills the room—but when the lights return, Vivienne has disappeared. Moments later, she is found dead on the restricted musicians’ balcony landing.
A missing staff key, a secret meeting note, broken crystal, suspicious financial records, and an apparently impossible alibi all point in different directions. Every guest has something to protect, but only one used the countdown as cover for murder.
Question the suspects, examine the evidence, expose their secrets, and identify the killer before midnight.

"I needed a fresh idea for our remote team social. The mystery kept 24 coworkers laughing and collaborating for two solid hours. HR is making this a standing tradition."
"We ran the mystery for my daughter's birthday on Zoom. The story was clean, the clues were challenging, and setup took less than an hour. Parents messaged me asking where to buy their own kit."
"I've purchased mystery kits from three other sites. None matched the polish of Capital of Mystery. Instant downloads, gorgeous PDFs, and clear Host vs. Player sections — zero spoilers. Five stars."
"We hosted the 1920s Speakeasy game for a birthday dinner and everyone stayed in character longer than expected. The evidence cards made the night feel organized but still gave everyone room to improvise."
"The game worked perfectly for our group of 18. I loved that the instructions were clear, the roles felt balanced, and even quieter guests had useful secrets and clues to share."
"I was nervous about hosting for the first time, but the host guide made it easy. We printed everything the same afternoon and played that night. The final reveal got a huge reaction."
