Shamrocks & Shotguns
St. Paddy’s Speakeasy
Plot:
At Blackthorn Manor, the annual St. Patrick’s charity masquerade is in full swing. Guests arrive in emerald, gold, and secrets, ready to celebrate Shamrock Relief above the hidden Green Cellar speakeasy.
But when Cal O’Donnelly, the evening’s powerful patron, is found dead beneath the stag portrait, the celebration turns into an investigation. A folded summons, missing charity money, a damaged gun cabinet, and a broken dance-card pencil point to lies behind the polished smiles.
Every guest has something to hide. Some feared Cal, some needed him, and some had reason to silence him before the night was over. Players must question suspects, compare timelines, inspect the evidence, and decide who had the motive, means, and opportunity to commit murder at Blackthorn Manor.

Yes. Costumes are optional, but emerald, gold, black, cream, masks, pearls, suspenders, and 1920s-style accessories make the night more fun.
It is best if the host does not play a main character, especially for the first run. The host sees the solution and manages the reveal.
Remove the last optional character in the casting order. The four core characters should always stay in the game.
It is better to avoid this, but if needed, give them an optional character and let them join at the current act.

Reviews from Real Detectives
"The Greed & Gouda kit turned our ordinary Saturday dinner into a full-blown Wall Street whodunit. The host script was fool-proof — even for first-timers. Our guests are already begging for the next game night!"
"I needed a fresh idea for our remote team social. The mystery kept 24 coworkers laughing and collaborating for two solid hours. HR is making this a standing tradition."
"We ran the mystery for my daughter's birthday on Zoom. The story was clean, the clues were challenging, and setup took less than an hour. Parents messaged me asking where to buy their own kit."
"I've purchased mystery kits from three other sites. None matched the polish of Capital of Mystery. Instant downloads, gorgeous PDFs, and clear Host vs. Player sections — zero spoilers. Five stars."
"We hosted the 1920s Speakeasy game for a birthday dinner and everyone stayed in character longer than expected. The evidence cards made the night feel organized but still gave everyone room to improvise."
"The game worked perfectly for our group of 18. I loved that the instructions were clear, the roles felt balanced, and even quieter guests had useful secrets and clues to share."
"I was nervous about hosting for the first time, but the host guide made it easy. We printed everything the same afternoon and played that night. The final reveal got a huge reaction."
